This achievement establishes Defendoor as the first and only all-glass security door system on the market to provide comprehensive ballistic and forced-entry protection from armed assailants in an elegant, Class A aesthetic. First launched in 2023, Defendoor now features an updated design with an even higher-end aesthetic that has successfully met the industry’s newest and most rigorous forced entry test. ASTM F3561 was developed by independent industry committee to establish a single, reliable, standardized test method for forced entry resistance, akin to the standardized UL 752 test method for ballistic resistance. The laboratory test simulates an active shooter attack by first weakening the fenestration system using ballistic projectiles (10 rounds from an AR-15 style assault rifle), followed by repeated impacts (16 strikes with a 100-lb pendulum ram, dropped from eight successively-higher heights for a total of 3,600 ft-lbs of strike force). The test is repeated three times on identical samples to ensure accuracy. Defendoor passed Level 7, a performance milestone that has never been achieved by a glass door.
